Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai was fonded in the year 1936, as the Sir Dorabji Tata Graduate School of Social Work. TISS was the first school of social work in India. The University is a member of The Association of Indian Universities (AIU). The University is recognized and funded by the University Grants Commission (UGC).
