Mumbai is famous for various types of sports, especially cricket.

The Mumbai cricket association or MCA is the governing body for cricket in Mumbai and its nearby areas like Thane and Navi Mumbai. It was formally known as Bombay cricket Association. The association comes under west zone. The Association was established in 1930 and has a sound Constitution.

This is most likely the only Sports Association in India which not only practices democratic values, but also has a convention of keeping the association on the move with new ideas and enthusiasm.

The Mumbai cricket team is the team for the Mumbai cricket association in the Ranji Trophy. The team has won over 36 titles, the most recent being in 2003-04.Currently the association is headed by Sharad Pawar who is also the president of Board of Control for Cricket in India.

The Mumbai Schools Sports Association or the MSSA is a sports development body, which plays an important part to promote sports participation among school children. The organisation also looks after the needs of the children as far as sports activities are concerned.

Navi Mumbai Sports Association (NMSA) is Non-Government Sports Organization registered with Charity Commissioner. It is ruled by elected body for promotion of sports, fellowship and fitness for individual, families, schools, Institutions and corporate bodies. For promotion of sports, Annual Camps are held to select talents and hard work out are given to make them champions. Schools and colleges are provided association’s infrastructure to develop sports, competitions and identify. For fellowship, they have recognition all over India and overseas with prestigious clubs for the gain of our members.
