University of Petroleum & Energy Studies (UPES) - India’s First Energy University is in fact an endeavor of Hydrocarbons Education & Research Society – a non-profit Society formed by a group of eminent professionals from Oil & Gas & related sectors.

University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES) is the first Indian Energy University approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC). This prestigious Institute offers 33 specialized programs across Oil & Gas, Power, Transportation, Infrastructure and Logistics & Supply Chain sectors. It is also first Indian Energy institution to set up a Bio-Diesel Laboratory, as also the first Indian University to implement SAP.

The main aim of the Society is to develop & provide professional education and in the field of energy management, petroleum, electric power & non-conventional energy sources.
